On August 26, 2016, Ryan suffered a gran mal seizure at work; a subsequent scan, brain surgery and biopsy revealed the devastating diagnosis of Glioblastoma Multiforme- an aggressive and deadly brain cancer.

12 Workouts to Fight Brain Cancer is an event organized by our Founder Seb Lavoie at Sheepdog to raise funds towards Ryan A.K.A ‘CHOPPER’s cancer treatment. It will consist of 12 workouts, one every hour from 9:00AM to 9:00PM.

You can join us for as many WODs as you want. Come and do one Workout or come and do all 12!

The Event will be by donation only and there will be donation categories. Donations will start at $25.00.

We’re still wrapping up a few details about the event. Expect registration to open in the next few days.

RYAN A.K.A ‘CHOPPER’S’ STORY

After 3 years of bravely fighting his disease which has included 2 brain surgeries, radiation, 55 doses of chemotherapy and 18 MRI scans, Ryan’s last MRI showed that his cancer continues to grow. Ryan has lost his peripheral vision as well as that of his right eye as a result of tumor growth. We have now exhausted all conventional treatments available in Canada. Despite all this, Ryan has not complained a single day, and continues to live each day being the best father he can to our 7-year-old son Ryder.

WHY WE ARE RAISING MONEY

A biopsy performed on Ryan’s brain tumor revealed that he has the biomarkers for a study currently being performed at the Ivy Brain Tumor Center in Phoenix Arizona. This means that the treatment in Arizona could potentially be extremely effective for him. The study will, amongst others, involve another brain surgery, several MRI’s and blood labs, none of which MSP will provide us with any funding. We need to raise $200,000.
